Tilt-up construction · panels of any size

Tilt-up concrete panels, from slab design and formwork to the lift, for Pacific Northwest buildings

From concrete slab design to precise formwork, we form, pour and lift tilt-up panels of any size for industrial facilities, warehouses and distribution centers across the Pacific Northwest.

Chapter 01

The slab is the casting bed, so slab design comes first

A tilt-up wall is cast flat, on the floor of the building it will become, and then stood up with a crane. That makes the floor slab the most important piece of formwork on the job: whatever its flatness, its surface and its cracks do, the face of every panel cast against it will copy. Poppoff designs and places that slab with the lift in mind, which is why the first conversation on a tilt-up job is about the slab and not about the panels.

Matt Poppoff's slab work shows up in the record. For a 106,000 SF tilt-up building in Spokane Valley, Matt was recommended to Baker Construction & Development because of his experience with macro synthetic fibers combined with wider expansion joint spacing, and wrote that his knowledge was invaluable during the slab design. We used the same approach on our own floor, a 125 by 100 foot shop addition in Moxee with no saw cut control joints and 7.5 pounds of Forta Fiber, which has performed flawlessly.

From there it is formwork, rebar and embeds, and panels formed, poured and lifted at whatever size the engineer drew, by a skilled crew with in-house equipment and our own pump fleet on the same site.

Panels by the hundred, counted one at a time

Panel counts are how tilt-up work gets measured, and ours run into the hundreds. At OSF in Moses Lake in 2023 we built the complete concrete package: footings, 255 tilt-up panels (96 of them insulated) for 30 individual controlled atmosphere rooms, 110,000 SF of slab on grade and 80,000 SF of paving.

Project Jasper in Redmond, Oregon (2025) was 96 panels, 80,000 SF of slab on grade and 4,000 cubic yards of concrete, footings included. Project Big Horn in Wenatchee (2024) was 54 panels over 60,000 SF of slab. Project Maverick in Moses Lake (2025) was 38 panels and 26,000 SF of slab, with all the curb and sidewalk poured around it.

Our first turnkey concrete package, in 2023, came to 253 panels. That is the advantage of a complete package: the crew that cast the panels already knows the slab they stand on and the footings they sit on.

Chapter 03

Cold storage and ag, where tilt-up earns its keep

Tilt-up and fruit storage go together in the Yakima Valley, and Poppoff has been building both since the 1980s. Zirkle Fruit in Selah has grown continuously to well over 100 controlled atmosphere rooms, and we have been their preferred concrete contractor through each project, including a state-of-the-art cherry processing facility finished in 9 months of downtime in 2015.

Columbia Reach in Yakima has expanded fruit storage four times since 2009 and added 37 controlled atmosphere rooms, which came to 354,000 SF of tilt-up panels on 427,000 SF of slab on grade. The Washington Fruit complex, started in 2009, added 311,000 SF of tilt-up panels across two apple plants, a cherry plant and a home office, and every slab on grade received a densifier.

For Lineage Logistics in Richland, a 450,000 SF rack-supported freezer building 125 feet tall, our scope was 125,000 SF of tilt-up panels plus freezer slabs placed in 7 pours and finished to FF75 and FL45, above the specification.

Built for the region growing around the shop

Eastern Washington and Oregon keep adding agricultural, manufacturing, industrial and commercial buildings, and most of them are large, plain boxes that tilt-up builds consistently. We are ready to build those facilities with a skilled crew, in-house equipment, and decades of experience.

General contractors have noticed. Systems West Construction calls Poppoff a strategic partner for over 30 years, and Mountain States Construction has planned mix designs, finishes, sequencing and weather with us for just as long. The Ace Hardware distribution center in our home town of Moxee, 222,000 SF of tilt-up panels on 810,000 SF of slab on grade is another Moxee job on our record.
